RICHARD CALLAND
Richard Calland is one of the most prominent and highly regarded political analysts and commentators in the country. He is also an Associate Professor of Public Law at the University of Cape Town with over 25 years of experience in the fields of governance and sustainable development in Africa and beyond. Calland has founded a number of successful civil society organisations that focus on political accountability and democracy-building initiatives, and has authored several books on the state of South Africa’s political affairs.

LAWSON NAIDOO
Lawson Naidoo is the Executive Secretary of the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC) – one of South Africa’s foremost independent civil society organisations – and is a regular media commentator on political, constitutional and legal issues. Lawson has a deep understanding of the ruling party, having worked at the ANC Mission in London while in political exile in the UK during apartheid. During Mandela’s term as President, he worked as Special Advisor to the Speaker of Parliament. Lawson has remained a prominent and key figure in South Africa’s fight against corrupt leadership in recent years, and his understanding and experience of South Africa’s political terrain is difficult to surpass.
